I grew up 50 miles northeast of Memphis TN in a small town called Trumann, Arkansas. I have two sisters, one younger and one older. I was 14 when I got my first set of weights. I weighed 145 lbs. and bench pressed 150 lbs. At the age of 17, I met a lifter by the name of D.D Nichols, he was the first bodybuilder with the strength of powerlifter that I had ever met . That in itself inspired me. I eventually moved to Lebanon, TN and that's when I really got serious about my powerlifting . My goal was to press over 600 lbs. on the bench-press, which was accomplished within a few short years. My bench-press has now moved close to 750lbs. I now hold 3 state records and one national record .
After reaching my powerlifting goals, I set my sights on bodybuilding . The first show I competed in was the 2005 NPC Tennessee State Bodybuilding Competition. When I came in third place, I made my wife a promise that the next year I would win the whole competition. That's when I met Blaine Woods. He's been around the bodybuilding scene for over 25 yrs.. With Blaine's' help and vigorous workouts I became dialed in and ready to go. In August at the 2006 NPC Tennessee State Bodybuilding Competition I not only won my weight class, but took the overall state title. Through my long preparation Blaine became not only my trainer, but one of my best friends.
I will be taking a year off to prepare for nationals and to spend time with my family. I still live in Lebanon and I'm a truck driver by trade. I have four children and a beautiful wife who also loves bodybuilding and powerlifting . She holds two state bench press records and has placed within the top three winners in three NPC bodybuilding competitions .
